Why For Real Life?

Above is one of my favourite photos of our girls and it’s completely un-staged. It's just a little glimpse of who they are at this moment; they love holding hands as they walk, and they love going on adventures together. They have gone through so many different stages, and as much as I try to treasure every one, I know I will forget things. I will probably forget that my three year old enthusiastically calls mayonnaise bolognese. I might even forget how my one year old gives you a kiss by smacking you with her forehead. But, I won't forget their sweet little faces, their joy-filled smiles, or how they loved walking hand in hand, because I am lucky enough to have photos like this. As we've seen our girls grow and change we've discovered the joy and importance in capturing who they are today, because they will be different tomorrow. We have enjoyed taking photos for a long time, but the photos that we treasure the most are the ones that capture the precious moments of real life.

So why did we start For Real Life? Other than having the coolest name ever, *cough* thanks Bluey. We realised that having photos of your kids is invaluable. We, along with every other parent that has 30000 photos of their kids on their phone. But what if sometimes phone photos aren't enough? What if I want a print for my wall? What if my kids won't look at the camera? What if we want everyone to be in the photo without it being a selfie? Maybe there is a time in every family where you need someone else to capture your joy, your connection and the personalities of your little people.

Our youngest is a runner, you put her down her she's gone! Our eldest is not always easily impressed and will look at the camera if and when she is good and ready. Every kid marches to the beat of their own drum! So how do you get nice photos of them? You have fun! We do all our sessions outside, because we (and most kids we know) think that's the best place to be! Real fun, real joy, and real memories are what make photos worth sharing, worth printing and worth keeping.

So here we are, ready to capture who your family really is. We don't have a vibe or a colour scheme you need to fit. Our pricing is transparent and all inclusive. Come hang out with us, splash at the beach, adventure through a forest, have fun, make memories and let us capture the joy of real life.

A Word From Bee

Hey! I'm Bee, our main photographer at the moment. I am a youth worker 'by trade' and have always loved working with kids and young people. I bought my first 'real' camera near ten years ago and have long loved taking photos. I also have worked in outdoor education and love spending all the time I can outside soaking up the sunshine or splashing at the beach.

I picked up my first film camera a decade ago, concerned that the only photographs I was capturing were on my iPhone. I admired the beautiful photos in my parents’ albums, and so, armed with my grandparents’ 70’s film camera, I launched into my study of photography.

I am currently involved largely behind the scenes. I also have a background in outdoor education and look forward to getting behind the lens as we launch our adventure family sessions.
